All Things Netbook

Hello Danny Blazers.

I set up this blog to share my experiences with my netbook. I only use a netbook for all of my computing needs and it has served me well. I am actually using my netbook to set this blog up, to do my videos on YouTube.com and to do a weekly show online that be live very soon.

I truly believe that the netbook is a fantastic way to compute and get things done on a daily basis. I have read many, many reviews on the different netbooks from Dell to Acer and I personally decided to purchase an Acer Aspire One AOA150-1887 for $298.00 US. I also decided to purchase a nine cell battery and now I don't need to lug around my power brick to make sure my netbook doesn't die on me during an important meeting or giving a presentation.

Netbooks are not as Scott Gilbertson in his article on Monkey_Bites, "Why Linux Will Crush Windows 7" April 23, 2009 he says, "netbooks are not crippled laptops, they're laptops that are good enough".

When the netbook first made its splash on the computer scene way, way back in 2007, they had small SSD (solid state disks) that were only 8GB or 16GB and had maybe 512MB of RAM. Now they have 160GB HDD (hard disk drives) can have up to 1.5GB to 2GB of DDR2 RAM. The screens are 8.9 inches to 10.1 inches and the keyboards are doable depending on the brand you buy.

My Acer has a 8.9 inch screen, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB SATA HDD, the ATOM 1.6Ghz N270 processor and Windows XP Home Edition. Yes, I am a PC and better than that I am a netbook PC.

I hope that this blog will help to inform the average user and maybe even the road warrior on the good, the bad and the ugly of netbook computing. I will be very honest and do my best to dispell any hype and any BS on what the netbook is and what it is not, and it is NOT a crippled laptop but a laptop that is good enough.
